Civil and Structural Drafter, Oil and Gas Industry

As part of our continued growth, we are looking for a Civil and Structural Drafter for our Anjou office. The successful candidate will play a key role in preparing technical drawings and design documents for civil and structural projects.

Key responsibilities

  • Prepare and produce integrated technical drawings and design documents for the civil and structural scope.
  • Write, prepare, produce and assemble documents, civil and structural work packages, work fronts and drawings to execute the work as directed and as reviewed by the engineers.
  • Coordinate data collection and incorporate that information into the drawings.
  • Develop complete drawing sets, preferably using Autodesk Advanced Steel, including modelling, site geometry, structural G/A layout, elevations, sections, connections, plans and details, in accordance with client and VTEK design standards.
  • Analyze surveys, field notes, maps, photographs and other documents to identify potential project constraints and the best approach to develop and complete projects on time and on budget.
  • Coordinate and integrate his or her work with other project stakeholders for an integrated, functional design, including the Navisworks interface.
  • Apply fit-for-purpose, functional and agile principles in planning and carrying out his or her work.
  • Create accurate CAD drawings from hand sketches, verbal instructions and site visits.
  • Think creatively and critically throughout the design process in order to create functional sketches and drawings.
  • Perform thorough quality control checks (QA/QC) as needed, including the use of checklists.
  • Apply working knowledge of codes, design requirements and client specifications.
  • Stay current with the latest drafting design principles, materials and best practices, and apply them.
  • Work with project managers and design staff to provide status updates and discuss challenges and risks.
  • Perform any other related duties as needed.

Qualifications

  • College diploma (DEC) in civil engineering technology, building drafting or a related field.
  • Relevant experience in civil and structural drafting, preferably in an industrial project environment.
  • Proficiency with CAD software, preferably AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of the codes, standards and design specifications applicable to civil and structural engineering.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Self-starter, proactive and results-oriented, with a high level of professionalism.
  • Able to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team environment.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with attention to accuracy and detail.
  • Creative and critical thinking applied to the design process.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Customer-service-oriented approach and support to project teams.
